![]() Dear Colleagues, As it happened in previous congress, by sticking its principle on assignment of the congress president out of the Board of Directors of Turkish Surgical Association, presidency honor of 18th National Surgery Congress has given to me. With my colleagues in executive board of congress whom were assigned by me, we have assumed the responsibility of the forthcoming congress. The 18th National Surgery Congress will be hold in Kaya Congress Center in Izmir between May 23-27th, 2012 with joint decision of the Board of Directors of Turkish Surgical Association and executive board of congress. Nowadays, digital technology expedited the access to information, but intensive inflow in information carries with disinformation. Biennial National Surgery Congresses will provide considerable contribution to surgeons in access to accurate information and sharing the experience. Furthermore, large family of surgical association will find a chance for social merging in those congresses. We will pay careful attention to whole sessions which will be hold in four days congress to be covered by entire subjects in general surgery. The main aim of congress will be the discussion of problems in actual practice, post graduate education and courses in the light of evidence based medicine. Targeted to those aims; there will be panels, conferences, courses, case discussion panels, video presentations, oral and poster presentations, and satellite symposiums supported by industry. Topics will be presented and discussed by national and international colleagues dedicated in their era. As usual, dear nurses with whom we share our study fields in our professional life will arrange parallel sessions. Dear colleagues, as executive board members, we will be working hard during the year 2011 for the organization of above mentioned activities.
